(Updated July 1, 2001)There have been many changes made to the hamster pages and the structure and content, as the information grows. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused if your links don’t work.
Just to explain a little of information on my life with my hammies, their cages are set up in my sitting room on a wall unit. Each cage is on a separate shelf. This way I can sit there for hours and watch their everyday " antics". I would go in there to relax, drink my coffee and listen to my music or just to think. It's a very cozy room, fireplace, couch, windows to look out of, for a view of the ravine and stream in the backyard (Petticoat Creek). It is a room to escape to for quietness and relaxation. So this way I could watch the lives and everyday rituals of all my Hammies. There are eighteen (18) cages, for sixteen (16) hammies, 1 Tub for Ulysses, and one Tub for the Male Dwarfs. "Uly" cannot be put into a cage as he runs in circles constantly and the friction of the litter on his feet causes his feet to become quite sore.
I can see the everyday occurrences of
all my hammies. A lot of people have hobbies, mine is my hamsters, it is so nice to come home and walk in the room and you get ten hammies at their cage doors trying to get my attention, and sometimes who do I let out first comes to mind. My Little friends come out of their cages everyday. Even the dwarfs come out to be handled and play in their homemade play box. Each hamster gets played with, and they are very tame. The oldest is Tiffany who is 13 months old. The youngest are Tasha & Benji who are about 7 weeks old. So when each hamster comes out, I cuddle them, I've have set days when their cages are to be cleaned. I have a little toothbrush that I brush the older ones with, they like this, they sit there and I'll brush them softly and check them at the same time for lumps, sores, hair loss or any changes in their fur. So I have a relationship with each one, and when I'm sitting in the hammy room I try to relax. Watching all the hamsters, attending to their everyday lives takes a lot of my time. My eyes always stroll around the room to each of their cages, and sometimes they stop at the empty shelf were someone once played. There is always a happy young face to put a smile on my face.
